The Interiors and Carvings

The Fusion style of the villa reflects the background of the owner who grew up in Singapore, England and California. Coming back to his home country, Indonesia, after spending 20 odd years abroad, the owner of the villa spent most of his time in Borneo, Java, Sumatra and Papua. He also travels extensively to the surfing destinations of the world such as the Gran Canaria, Morocco, South Africa, Maldives, Mauritius, Bali, Hawaii and Australia. The elements of the interiors and carvings are all from these places.

The beams, posts and supporting poles are carved in detail with Balinese Royalty style.

Some of the window frames are carved with Javanese animal characters and the main door is an Imperial Chinese style.

Rather than being centered in a confined structure, the interior space allows the separation of the master suite at one end and guest rooms at the other.

Each section has its own spectacular view of the mountains, valley and the Indian Ocean without being exposed to the rest of the house. This also applies to the living, dining and bathrooms.

Curving and crafted walls are of split face masonry.

The Cathedral window glasses, the ethnic ornaments and decorations from Java, Papua and Borneo plus the ultra modern lavatory fixtures and kitchen give this villa a very unique, soothing and comfortable tropical interior.

Gothic and Moorish bedroom doors add the Middle Eastern and European touch blend together.

The Papuans Arts

Most of the Papua arts are from the Asmat and the Digul tribe. Most of the wood carvings are from the species of the Merbau Wood, a highly prized species; now being proposed to be included in the United Nation protected nontradeable wood.
